About Me

Born in Rockville, Maryland, I've spent my entire life here in MCPS. While first living in Germantown, my family later moved just in time for me to start kindergarten at Bells Mill Elementary in Potomac, and today I'm a junior at Winston Churchill High School.

Interested in the humanities from an early age, I spent much of my childhood reading books (love historical fiction) and the news. These habits inspired me to pursue political involvement and advocacy, and since then I've argued in favor of funding for the United Nations to our Congressmen, worked a summer for a Maryland State Delegate, and served on the SMOB Advisory Council and Special Elections Committee.

Besides those interests and activities, I have retained my love for reading and writing, and spend a lot of my free time following current affairs and listening to historical speeches.

I'm lucky to have spent my life thus far with my parents, my younger brother, and my dog, Leia, whom you'll see on this website in a couple places.

I'm excited to run to be your 48th MCPS SMOB. Together, I have nothing but optimism about the change we can create.

Let's take MCPS to the MAX!

Experience

I am proud to have been very involved in advocacy and public policy at the school, county, state, and national level.

SCHOOL

Covering important topics as an editor of the Churchill HS school newspaper

For the past two years, I've been a staff member of my high school's very own newspaper, The Churchill Observer. Writing for this monthly publication has let me meet lots of great people, some of whom I am lucky to call friends, but the paper also allows me an outlet to talk about important things that impact our county, such as hate/bias incidents and BOE elections.

COUNTY

Volunteering for education change here in MCPS

Serving on the SMOB Advisory Council and the Special Elections Committee

I volunteered for now-BOE President Julie Yang's campaign in 2022, attending campaign events and talking to voters. In the almost three years since, I've held the same optimism and drive for positive change that I did when Mrs. Yang first ran and won.

I have served on two separate student-run groups: the SMOB Advisory Council (SAC) as a School Representative for WCHS, and the Special Elections Committee (SEC) the very next year as a Grievance Board Member. My experiences in both advising the SMOB and managing the SMOB election give me the perfect blend of experience needed to take on the role.

NATION

Meeting with Congressmen for various advocacy purposes

I've met with our Maryland representatives in Congress to speak about a number issues, from funding for the United Nations to climate change, and I've carried the student perspective into these conversations to improve our nation all the way.
(I even met Senator John Fetterman once!)

STATE

Drafting a bill proposal for State Delegate Lily Qi

In a summer internship for Maryland House of Delegates member Lily Qi, I wrote a bill proposal that would incentivize certain University of Maryland graduates to start businesses here in Maryland, driving our state economy to innovation and development of new heights and varieties.
