Streamline
SSL
Reporting System
The current Student Service Learning (SSL) system is needlessly complicated and has room to improve, to the benefit of students and school SSL coordinators alike. As SMOB, my goal will be to make MCPS work easier for everyone, and a great step we can take towards that is streamlining the verification system.
In its current state, the SSL form is a physical copy that needs to be printed and filled in with a pen. The physical nature of the form often requires a student to chase people around for their signatures, as well as fill out information about an organization that they may not even know. In certain settings, such as swimming pools and soup kitchens, forms can easily get damaged or even lost! After finally reaching a school's SSL coordinator, SSL forms can then be hard to read and even harder to verify.
This much is clear: the current SSL system needs improvement. As technology has evolved, it's time to build a new system that is convenient and efficient. As your SMOB, I will work towards digitizing the SSL system that can eventually replace the physical document and make your lives easier. You will never again have to face the hassle of multiple paper forms, or the risk of misplacing or damaging or forgetting your hours. With this change SSL hours will become as simple and convenient as an app on your phone.
